In the world of drag racing today,
there are few nostalgia Funny Cars left in circulation.

Delavan, WI    In 1992, veteran drag racer Michael Boisvert
from southern Wisconsin found an original 1976 Mustang funny car body for sale and purchased it.
He soon discovered that under the paint was solid evidence
that this was an original Blue Max body from 1976.

The funny car was built as an affordable weekend operation by Boisvert and ran
under the name “Sheer Hell” for 8 years at such tracks as Great Lakes Dragway,
Byron Dragway, Cedar Falls Dragway, and Tri-State, just to name a few. It took Boisvert
over 5 years to get this car track ready, doing 95% of the work himself.

“Because of the Blue Max history, we were able to uncover vast amounts
of research that were then archived over the years,”
according to Dieter Sturm, Team Manager.
“Now provided with clear history, stats, photographs, and color schemes,
Boisvert  and his team of drag racing pros have restored the original
1976 BLUE MAX into the world of nostalgia drag racing, complete with
a blown Hemi
,” Sturm indicates.

What The BLUE MAX team is all about…

“Unlike the multi-million dollar race operations,
The BLUE MAX™  Funny Car Team is a grass-roots styled operation,” says Sturm.
“Mike and the team enjoy being involved with the race fans one-on-one
and giving the track a great show!

The driver and crew members are well known throughout the Midwest tracks
for being professional, responsible, and friendly!
Fun, interaction with the people, and professional racing
is what this team is about
, stresses Boisvert.

As examples, Mike Boisvert and his crew (of the former Sheer Hell Team)
has been involved in-

v     10-15 annual scheduled match races and nostalgia funny car events
throughout the Midwest and occasionally Texas

v     Annual Make-A-Wish Fund Raising Races
and other charitable special interest programs

v     Car shows and special events

v     Several print and online publications

v     And has appeared before crowds numbering
 from 2,500 to over 100,000

I’m looking forward to bringing a slice of drag racing history
back out on the track for the fans to enjoy
, said Boisvert.

Hundreds of hours of work by a dedicated "grassroots" team of builders and painters
